Small Business & Local Economy

Strong communities are built on strong local businesses

Small businesses are the heart of Larimer County.

Larimer County is full of innovators, builders, tradespeople, entrepreneurs, and working families.

But too often, government can operate like a cautious bureaucracy instead of a catalyst for opportunity.

That’s not good enough.

If we believe in economic justice, community strength, and long-term resilience, then we must be willing to reform systems that slow people down.

I’m running to do exactly that.

Government That Works for Workers — Not Just Systems

When county processes are slow and unpredictable, it’s not just business owners who suffer.

Workers lose hours. Projects stall. Jobs disappear.

I will push for:

  • Transparent, publicly reported permitting timelines

  • Accountability for delays that cost working families income

  • A Small Business & Trades Liaison who understands construction, licensing, and workforce realities

  • Regular audits of county systems to eliminate unnecessary red tape

Efficiency is pro-worker.
Predictability protects paychecks.

Keep Public Dollars Supporting Local Jobs

Taxpayer dollars should create local jobs with strong labor standards.

I will advocate to:

  • Break up oversized contracts that shut out small, local firms

  • Increase transparency in procurement scoring

  • Prioritize local economic impact and responsible employers

  • Support apprenticeship pathways tied to county-supported projects

When public dollars are spent, they should circulate here — supporting families in Larimer County.

Workforce Partnerships That Respect Skilled Labor

We need more than “job training.”
We need real career pipelines.

That means strengthening collaboration with:

  • Larimer County Economic and Workforce Development
  • Front Range Community College
  • Colorado State University

And working directly with:

  • Trade organizations
  • Labor leaders
  • Local contractors
  • Public employee associations

Apprenticeships, credentials, and skilled trades pathways are not secondary to economic development.

They are economic development.

A Self-Sustaining Economy Built from the Ground Up

Federal funding shifts. National politics change.

Our strength must come from within.

That means:

  • Supporting small businesses that treat workers fairly

  • Aligning housing policy so workers can afford to live here

  • Investing in infrastructure that creates good-paying local jobs

  • Protecting agricultural and tourism economies that sustain rural families

Economic justice means opportunity with dignity.

Leadership Grounded in Real Experience

I’ve worked in construction management.

I’ve advised small business owners.

I’ve run businesses for over a decade.

I understand how policy decisions affect payroll, hiring, and survival.

This isn’t theoretical for me.

And I won’t protect outdated systems just because they’re comfortable.

People First. Community Strong.
